Install the WLED app on your phone
Download the WLED app onto you device from the relevant app store.
IMPORTANT: Flashing WLED onto our controllers
DO NOT FLASH from the official WLED website. The website does not correctly identify the specific ESP32 model correctly, and may brick your controller.
STRICTLY follow the instructions below.
🚥 Go to this page
- Plug your board into your computer
- Select the version your wish to flash labelled "ESP32-S3 (4MB Flash)"
- Click Install button and accept the popup and click the button again
- Select the board from the next popup window, likely starting "USB JTAG" and click "Connect";
- Then select "INSTALL WLED (ESP32-S3, 4MB)" and wait for it to finish, then unplug it and you are good to go!
This is a development board, not a finished product. So we assume you have some basic electrical understanding when purchasing and using this product, however below are some key points you need to bear in mind when using this product.
- The amount of power required to run the controller and attached strip will vary GREATLY depending on the number of LEDs in the strip and it's operating voltage. e.g. for up to roughly 60 LEDs you can probably get away with powering the controller just from a higher end USB-C charger, but for more than this you may need to inject power from both ends of the strip to avoid voltage drop for longer lengths.
- If you run more than 100 about LEDs or you opt for a higher voltage strip, you will need to get a dedicated power supply. At this point you can power the strip via the included power tails (typically red and white wires separate to the 3 wired into the board) and then leave the USB-C port unplugged, because the board will power itself from the power to the strip, and will work for just about any voltage strip you choose (4-36v).
